Since the project’s announcement back in October, the DHA Headquarters has made significant progress. This 11-story building is the last piece of Denver Housing Authority‘s successful Mariposa redevelopment. Make sure to head on over to the announcement post for more details on this project.
The parking podium has topped out and the steel structure for the office floors is underway. At the moment, there are no signs of the glass and paneling facade. Here are three photos of the project from around the 10th and Osage lightrail station.
The DHA Headquarters still has a while to go as completion is anticipated for Spring 2019.
Isn’t this the second to last parcel of the development? There’s still the gravel parking lot south of this new building next to the light rail station. There is a design review proposal submitted to the city for a 9 story residential building there.
I’m normally not as perturbed about this as some, but it does look rather silly next to one of our city’s busiest light rail stations. Still confounded why there is so little commercial development next to these stations too. Is that due to a zoning guidance or development plan? I’m pretty sure this entire ground floor should be retail given the neighborhood, yet it’s none. A 7-11 (or, you know, a locally owned convenience store) would make a killing on this corner given all the high schoolers waiting for trains.
A Choice Market is moving into the first floor, in my opinion, a superior version of a 7-11 albeit more expensive! In regards to the vast amount of parking, it is a bit frustrating, but given the needs of DHA staff to visit numerous properties all over the County regularly, most employees probably need a car on a daily basis or at least most days of the week. The same scenario goes for clients and vendors/consultants which likely need to visit the DHA office regularly and can’t always ride transit to drop off paperwork or complete an appointment.
According to another Infill post: “Additionally, the ground floor will include the Mercado at Mariposa, a neighborhood market featuring fresh produce, to-go prepared food, and healthy groceries, as well as micro-spaces for local vendors to sell goods.”
Jesus all that parking.
At least it’s at a train stop. At a minimum, we should be encouraging people to dump their cars on the outskirts of the city and take the train in.
Any updates on the old rail yard across the tracks from this stop?
I contacted RTD about that and they do plan on getting some of that property, hopefully expanding this station in the future.
