The glass facade has topped out over at the 30-story Block 162 development. With the exception of the hoist elevator and a few holes left from the tower crane anchors, we are now able to see a mostly completed version of this all-glass building.
Let’s start with a few views of the tower from Auraria. While the smoke from the wildfires and haze in the sky does not make for great photos from a distance, you can still see that the glass on Block 162 sports a slightly more purple-hued glass when comparing it to 1401 Lawrence and 1144 Fifteenth Street. In addition, the tower adds a nice modern element to the middle of downtown which is dense with earth-toned buildings.
One of the unique features of this building is the roof-line. The glass exceeds the top floor covering the mechanical penthouse. On the narrow sides, there is a slight curve near the top giving you a neat separation of all four sides along the roof-line.
Next, let’s look at some views of the tower from 15th Street and the 16th Street Mall. Along the narrow sides of the building, dark granite is used along the podium adding a nice contrast to the reflective glass.
Let’s wrap up with some final views above 15th Street. We can only hope that one day the parking lots behind the Pavilions will be filled in.
Block 162 is expected to wrap up at the end of this year with tenants moving in early 2021. We will swing by around then for a final update.
Possibly Denver’s last skyscraper for a long time, nice roof lines yes, but a mid rise none the less. Wohoo!
Looks great! Now that we know Patrinely Group can deliver, I really want them to land a world class tenant for their hotel proposal. And maybe add 10 stories to it 😉
1000 space parking garage is climate arson. But it does look nice.
wow, this is a really cool building. I like the batman ears on the top. 5 stars!!
It’s beautiful. I’m so excited to see it finished, or near finished. But I wonder what the chances are of another skyscraper going up in Denver in the next ten years….

This is what I mean when I say that a tall building should integrate with the sky. A nice way to do it. Beats the heck out of a flat top, a rounded lump, etc.
Beautiful building and a lovely addition to the Denver skyline but can we stop with all the mid rise buildings and build taller? My fingers are crossed for a new skyscraper to compliment Block 162 and the existing skyline.
Agreed.
Generally I really like the building; unique roofline, disguises the parking podium well and is respectful of setbacks from street. Now that it will likely be years till they build the second Block 162 tower, I kind of wish they had chosen to go for a single tower on the site instead, and oriented the major axis of the building with the other towers in the area (i.e. Grand Hyatt and Spire). This would generally compliment the skyline better in my opinion.
Secondly (and maybe more importantly?) does anyone else get a bit of a Galactic Empire vibe from this building? Possibly a folded Lambda Shuttle??
