Work is progressing nicely over at “The Link”, a building rehabilitation that involves replacing an entire facade to a more modern design. When we last visited this project, the first glass panels were going up on the shorter portion of the project which features a clear, solid-color glass. Present-day, the primary patterned glass has begun to go up.
Let’s begin the update with a couple of street canyon views showing how well this new facade integrates with its historic neighbors down both 15th Street and Curtis Street.
Looking down Curtis Street towards the Denver Performing Arts Complex, you can see that the glass on the Curtis Street side is mostly complete with the 15th Street side making progress on the first few floors.
Wrapping up, here are a couple more photos looking down 15th Street.
Given the swift progress of the glass going up, we should see the facade mostly complete within the next few weeks. What a great improvement to this corner of Downtown Denver!
I LOVE the contrast between the modern glass and the historic facade of the surrounding buildings. The new glass draws the eyes up to the buildings and allows us to appreciate the beautiful facade work on the historic buildings. What an incredible addition to this part of downtown.
Agreed. Good design is good design no matter what era it comes from, and the mixture of old and new is what keeps things interesting!
Much better. Any idea of how many people are now working downtown? Used to be, what, 130,000 people working downtown before covid? Today, 20,000??? Just wonder about the future of some of these office buildings.
huge improvement over what was there before – glad the building will get reused vs leveled for a parking lot. I think we will be looking back on 2020 as a strange year but downtown will come back, its hard to dismiss the proximity benefits of co-workers, tech companies, restaurants, and cultural institutions without driving for hours. IMO, dense cities are still going to be the future for the vast majority.
I worked there for many years, this is a great improvement.
This is looking fantastic! Any chance we can get a similar treatment for the AT&T building on the opposite corner of this block, now? Sometimes I say crazy things…
That would be great. It was strange that there were two very ugly building on the same block as two very nice looking buildings. Now only one. Really wish they would spruce up the ground level of the building with the lights all over it. Heck, at least make the ground level panels into mirrors? What is even in that building now?
Yeah, I’ve wondered that myself. At a glance it seems almost abandoned, yet it magically lights up at night.
An improvement over what was there before, but I don’t think it looks that great next to its Curtis-street neighbor. That building is very fine.
