While this doesn’t classify as “infill”, there was quite a sight to behold this morning as an Erickson Air-crane was lifting new HVAC units onto the Granite Tower.
Running through Downtown Denver with my camera, I made it just in time as there were still a couple of lifts to go. Given the height and location of Granite Tower, traditionally these lifts would have more than likely required a tower crane taking weeks of time and road closures. By using a helicopter, the lifts were able to get done within two hours.
Here are some photos of the air-crane lifting the new HVAC units onto the building. Each lift also included the removal of the old units which were brought back down to the street.
This post wouldn’t be complete without a video. Below is a full lift from the street to the building.
Now that spring is here we will get back to more infill photo updates, stay tuned!
Very cool, glad to see you’re back!

what happened to this site? I really miss the detailed information you provided. I hope you’re back soon. there’s a lot going on in Denver, and the news you provided was valuable.
Hey Mitch! We both work full-time jobs and with winter and general pandemic stuff going on, things like this have been more on the back-burner. We’ll be getting back to things. 🙂
