18th & Market Apartments Update #7

Two tower cranes were recently erected in Lower Downtown for the 18th and Market Apartments project. A lot of progress has been made over the past couple of months with it now being ready to go vertical. Over the next few weeks, the remaining dirt will be cleared and the vertical columns for the underground levels should start going in.

First let’s start the update out with a few photos of the project looking down into the hole. It has been a wet March but crews are working diligently removing the last bit of dirt towards 19th Street.

There is quite a large concentration of tower cranes in Lower Downtown with three belonging to the Colorado Rockies Mixed-Use development alone. The other tower crane in the background of the photo below belongs to X Denver. If you look very closely, you can spot the Zia tower crane just to the left of the Rockies cranes. From this one vantage point, there are seven tower cranes. Awesome!

18th and Market Cranes

The 18th and Market Apartments fill such a large gap in Lower Downtown and will contribute greatly to the urban fabric of this block. It would be incredible if the parking lot next door had plans to go soon (unfortunately that’s not the case).

This toxic nuclear waste dump of a parking lot has been bothering me for the last fifteen years. I wasn’t going to believe that this project was going to happen until they actually started building, but it looks like it’s happening. Wow. Now the parking lot on the other side of the street needs to go too.
