Backfilling has started behind the southwestern and northwestern walls of the bus terminal. Following are two photos of the process which involves scooping soil from the pile near 16th and Wewatta streets, dumping it in a hopper, transporting it overhead via a conveyor, dumping it into the hole through a hose, and compacting it with a roller. Frequently a worker tests the compaction to be assure minimal settling.

Construction of the bus terminal roof is also underway.  The first photo below shows the roof structure as of last week.  The second shows workers guiding a roof panel into place.

Here’s an interesting shot looking north from the Millennium Bridge. It shows the complexity of the walls at the end of the bus terminal.

Below is a photo of my granddaughter and me checking out the relocated Amtrak  canopies across Wewatta Street from the temporary Amtrak terminal.

This last photo is a bit off topic but interesting nonetheless.  Shortly after sunrise on Wednesday, fog rolled into downtown. The water tower is on the roof of Ice House.  The sun is shining through the fog.
