This update is about finishing touches. The clock is running. One week from today, the new light rail and the mall shuttle stations will open. Crews are hard at work to meet the deadline. In fact, workers were on the job most of the weekend including Sunday night well after dark.
Looking at the photo below, you can see that the hole has been plugged in the wall that separates pedestrians from the light rail tracks. Now the curb and sidewalks are being installed.
Here’s a shot of more new sidewalks along 16th Street (left), and Chestnut Place and 17th Street (nice stripes!). Notice how wide they are. The sidewalk in the 16th Street photo is hard to see with the shadow. I’ll get a better one later in the week.
And, it’s good to see the roof material being reinstalled on the Chestnut Pavilion. Also notice in the following photo that glass has been installed in the big, center skylight. Glass has also been installed on the furthest three skylights, but it is not visible from my camera angle.
