My next walking tour of the Denver Union Station project is Saturday, November 17, 2012. Please join me to learn about and see all the incredible progress that’s happening around Denver Union Station, including major transit infrastructure, several cool new public spaces, the restoration of the historic station, and numerous private-sector mixed-use developments.

Why you should attend Saturday’s tour:

1. Workers have erected the first of the huge arched canopy structures that will surround the commuter rail platforms. You’ve got to see it… what an impact!

2. Construction on both wing buildings and the Cadence apartments projects is in full swing.

3. Once the project team planning the restoration of the historic station receives their final approvals to begin construction, we will lose access to the interior of the station until 2014. That could happen as soon as the end of the year. So, your time is limited to be able to see the inside of Union Station in its current unrestored state. Take advantage of it while you can!

Here’s how it works: Head on down to the LoDo side of the historic station at about 9:50 AM—meet at the corner of 17th and Wynkoop. Whoever shows up, that will be our tour group. We’ll start promptly at 10:00 AM and conclude at about 11:15 AM at the light rail/mall shuttle station  by the Millennium Bridge. The suggested donation for the tour is $10 per person and all proceeds go to the non-profit Student Chapter of the American Planning Association at the University of Colorado Denver, but you are absolutely more than welcome to take the tour whether you make a donation or not.

The weather looks good for this Saturday, so please join me for a good walk and conversation about Denver Union Station… and don’t forget your camera!
