Almost exactly a year ago, we announced a new project going up at the edge of City Park in the City Park West neighborhood. The York, a 5-story, 212-unit apartment project, has been making great progress. Let’s check it out!
Here is the project from 17th and Josephine. The York takes up an entire half block but features many setbacks to break up the building mass.
Heading in for a closer look, we can see that The York has topped out with exterior work making significant progress. These two perspectives are from 17th and 18th Avenues along York Street. The north side of the project will feature a rounded edge much like The Congress building in the One City Block development.
On the back side of The York, looking east, the facade, which will mostly be comprised of brick, is starting show on the 18th Avenue side.
The York should be complete around the Fall which is when we will swing back around for a final update!
Actually, the north side of the project will not feature a rounded corner but a chamfered one. I like that the exterior will be mostly brick, but it is too bad that the 17th Ave frontage does not have retail. That would have done much to complete the 17th Ave commercial/mixed use corridor.
Interesting! I was going off the rendering which looks like a rounded edge. Looking at current photos of the building, it totally is a chamfered one.
Both the developer and the apartment web sites have, what I believe are, more up to date renderings.

While I prefer rounded corners, I think the chamfered corner make much more sense with the clock face on it. In any event, it will still be a nice project.
The updated renderings look really nice. The brick patterning, chamfered corner, and plaza area all look really nice. Agreed on the lack of retail being a missed opportunity but all in all, this is shaping up to be quite nice.
Those setbacks make all the difference.
