Cherry Creek’s first all glass building is making swift vertical progress. Since our announcement back in November, the old two-story building has been demolished, excavation and foundation work are complete, a tower crane has been erected, and now the steel structure is starting to go up. As a refresher, this office building will rise eight-stories and provide 70,000 square feet of office space along with 5,000 square feet of ground floor retail.
The steel framing is currently halfway up with four more stories to go. It will be a while until we start to see any facade elements however, the quick vertical progress is always exciting to watch.
We will swing back around 2nd and Detroit when the building is topped out and the first glass elements start to go up.
I’ve always wondered, if anyone knows: I know it will be covered long before corrosion would hurt it, but does the thin layer of rust that is currently present on the steel frame remain there throughout the building’s lifespan? Is the only thing keeping it from corroding further the fact that it will be covered by the exterior?
