Back in December, we celebrated the eradication of a half block long surface parking lot which was one of the worst black holes in Downtown Denver. While it’s great seeing asphalt getting torn up and construction equipment move onto the site, it’s even better to see a lot of construction activity take place. As of this past weekend, the 18th and Market Apartments project has bottomed out which means it’s all vertical from here.
Below are a couple photos of the project from a slightly higher vantage point. Shoring walls are in place with a bit more excavation occurring on the northwest corner of the project site. With only one and a half levels of underground parking to pour, we should see this go vertical above the street level pretty quick.
That’s it for this update! We will have a much more in depth visit once things start to go vertical. It’s worth noting that the transformation of Lower Downtown with this project, Market Station, Dairy Block, and the Rockies Mixed-Use development is simply incredible.
So happy to see this lot he developed. With this ugly parking lot gone, what is now the worst spot in Denver? It might actually be the lot across the street.
This is awesome in so many ways. I love the scale and design. It bridges the old DURA modernism with contemporary classicism.
