There is a lot going on in River North, especially around the 38th and Blake commuter rail station. Back in March, we announced a new residential project going up just a couple blocks from the station that will end up providing 66 income restricted homes.
Let’s begin the update by looking at the project from Blake Street, right outside the 38th and Blake commuter rail station. The structure for the concrete podium is complete with the wood framing for the remaining four floors underway.
Wrapping up, here is one last view of the project from along Walnut Street looking towards 38th Street.
It’s great to see affordable housing going up so close to a commuter rail station!
Any updates on when/if the World Trade Center across the street will ever get built? It seems like it’s been “breaking ground later this year” for the past 3 years.
The latest activity on the permit side of things was in October, but nothing relating to construction permits yet.
@Ryan Where did you see that, and where would you see the construction permit side? I’ve been looking for the official ground-breaking for-ev-er.
Also- while we’re talking about highly anticipated ground-breakings, anyone got any news about the Train and Denver Rock Drill projects?
Traffic onto 38th street is already a nightmare. This area needs to address that issues as more apartments and building get built around there.
This project is literally one block from the 38th & Blake A-Line station. Where else would you suggest this type of dense and affordable housing be located?
I never mentioned anything about not building this in that location. I’m talking about the denisty along 38th with one lane traffic under the bridge.
Correct. Also adjacent to the train station.
This area needs more density to support both the train, in addition to all of the retail and office space that is being planned or built in this area. (I own at 32nd & Blake).
At some point, traffic will be so bad, that people will realize they might not need to use their cars in this area.
Agreed – I drive thru here every day after work and its getting worse and worse. Need to get to 2 lanes at least somehow.
