While we work on more roundups, let’s visit a few projects that are moving along nicely. In Upper Downtown, the twin-tower condo project has reached another milestone: the first tower crane has been installed at the project site. While not much vertical progress has taken place since our last Downtown Roundup, this condo project is clearly progressing.
In addition to our cover photo, below are two more of the new Potain Top-Slewing tower crane.
Looking into the hole at the project site, it appears that excavation is mostly complete, and the first sign of the core and columns are starting to appear. With only a couple of underground floors, it shouldn’t be long until we see the towers go above the street level.
As construction progresses for the 18th and Glenarm condos, we should expect to see one more tower crane installed in the future.
Project Description | Developer | Architect | Contractor |

Walking down 18th street in a few years is going to be a completely different experience. That urban canyon will be tall and full. A before and after photo of the urban canyon would be amazing.
Eight stories of above ground parking is very unfortunate. They are already digging down two levels for underground parking, why not more? Many of the new projects in the East Coast place ALL of their required parking underground with five or more levels below grade. With so much parking exposed above grade, the base of this project will be dead, and have zero contribution to the urban fabric. At least they should have wrapped the parking deck with singly loaded condo units.
As an Uber driver, I drive past this site a lot, and I can’t believe they can build these two towers in such a small plot of land! J can’t wait to see how these go up!
