Today, Downtown Denver gained a Ritz Carlton, marking a major milestone for the Mile High City. Created out of the former Embassy Suites hotel building, the $72 million transformation came to a conclusion today at 11:30 AM with a speech by Mayor Hickenlooper and the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon across the front entrance. Here are a few photos:
The hotel is beautifully appointed, as is the Elway’s steakhouse restaurant on the ground level. In February, the Ritz Carlton residential component of the project will open.
What a great day for Downtown Denver!
Ken,
I read in Denver Cityscape there are preliminary plans to build an office building and a hotel on the 1/2 block parking lot along Curtis between 17th and 18th. Have you heard anything about this? With the Ritz completed on one end and the 4 Seasons and DCPA on the other end, this site is definitely primo. Now, if the Federal Reserve Bank could be moved to the Greyhound bus station site, and an upscale multi-use development built in its' place, Curtis could become the street envisioned in the new downtown Denver master plan.
